Why would you be in Rochester Hills and not go to Stoney Creek Metropark? Okay, we’ll just assume you have not heard so much about the park. We’ll be telling you all you need to know about Stoney Creek Metropark in this piece.

If you want to enjoy the “up north” feeling without having to leave the suburbs, Stoney Creek Metropark is definitely the place to go. This park sits on 4,435 scenic acres as it extends across Oakland and Macomb counties, filled with so many opportunities to participate in outdoor recreational activities all year long. Set out on an afternoon and spend it here swimming or boating on the 500 acres Stoney Creek Lake. Here, you can also bike, run, hike or skate through the calm wetlands, rich woodlands, and grasslands. If you visit during the winter you can walk, snowshoe, fat tire mountain bike or cross-country ski across the marked trails. The sports area in the winter includes snowboard, toboggan hills, and sled.

Stoney Creek Metropark also boasts a nature center, disc-golf course, mountain bike skills course, 18-hole regulation golf course, playgrounds, sports fields for various activities including soccer and volleyball, basketball courts, and baseball diamonds. Also, all around the park, you’ll notice there are picnic areas with shelters that can be reserved, grills and relief stations.

If you have a Metropark Motor Vehicle Entry Permit, you’ll have a permit to access all 13 Huron Clinton parks. You can purchase the permits at the park offices, interpretive centers, toll booths and even online at your fingertips.

Annual Permits

  • Annual Boat Permit costs $35
  • Annual Vehicle/Boat Permit costs $70. This combo permit is for vehicles and boats. It gives vehicles with a boat trailer a permit to come into the Metroparks.

Annual Permits Seniors for age 62+

  • Annual Vehicle Permit costs $21
  • Annual Boat Permit costs $21
  • Annual Vehicle/Boat Permit costs $42. This combo permit is for vehicles and boats. It gives vehicles with a boat trailer a permit to come into the Metroparks.

Joint Combination Vehicle Permit

The Joint Combination Vehicle Permit for vehicles allows entry into Oakland County Parks and the Metroparks. It costs $59 only.

Daily Fee

  • $10 per vehicle
  • Boat trailer fee costs $10 daily also.

Disabled Veterans

There is a free park entry which is offered if you have a state-issued Disabled Veteran license plate.

In-line skaters, bicyclists, and walkers can enjoy the free access into al the Metroparks. All they have to do is enter the park through the park roads and biking/hiking trails.
